HerShield began with an ordinary moment close to the founder: a friend's first night in a new rental, and a message that read, "There's a small hole in the ceiling. It's probably nothing, right?"
She did not sleep well that night. Not because anything was there, but because there was no way to find out. Online, all she found were cheap detector pens and how-to videos of doubtful quality. The professionals who came up were private investigators, whose pages advertised infidelity surveillance and "call for a quote". She only wanted to know if her room was safe. Why did that feel like something to be ashamed of?
We later learned she was not alone. Court records and news reports show hidden-camera cases rising every year. Far more common are the nights that never become cases: people lying awake in unfamiliar rooms, staring at a small hole in the ceiling, telling themselves it is probably nothing.
We don't sell fear. We resolve it.
Too many businesses profit from amplifying fear. We chose the opposite: our prices, our process and even the things we cannot do are all published.
Most hidden-camera sweeps on the market are a side service of private investigation firms: opaque pricing, mixed in with infidelity cases. Walking through that door takes courage, and you never know how you will be judged.
HerShield does one thing: safety inspection of homes and hotel rooms. Wanting to know your space is safe needs no reason and deserves no shame. So there is money we decided from day one not to make.
Every plan is priced on this website. No add-ons once we arrive, no quoting by how you look. Prices in the open are the first step of trust.
A non-disclosure agreement is signed before every inspection. Your address, your rooms and everything we see are covered. Your privacy is the reason we exist.
We record what was inspected and list explicitly what was not. We make no promises we cannot keep, so every word we do say counts.
You can be present throughout and are welcome to bring someone with you; no door is ever closed. We record audio only with your written consent. The full report is sent encrypted with a password only you know. Peace of mind starts with you being in control.
It sounds contradictory, but we mean it. HerShield's ultimate aim is for "is this room private?" to become as routine as a fire inspection or a water test: glance at the badge before you check in, book a sweep when you move, and never have to work up the courage to ask.
Everything we build points the same way: the incident map lays out cases scattered across the news so the distribution of risk can be seen; the safety map accumulates every inspection and every badged hotel so that "someone is doing something" can be seen too. When the data is rich and public enough, lawmakers, operators and the public can argue from the same facts. That is how we push for better rules: not with slogans, with data.
No single company can walk this road alone, so the map is open. You can report a news case, recommend a hotel, book an inspection, or simply share the map. Everyone who takes part is a co-author.
